                       When Jahwah thy Elohim shall bring thee into the land whither thou goest to possess it,
                       and hath cast out many nations before thee,….

                       And when Jahwah thy Elohim shall deliver them before thee; thou shalt smite them, and
                       utterly destroy them; thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor shew mercy unto
                       them:

                       Neither shalt thou make marriages with them; thy daughter thou shalt not give unto his
                       son, nor his daughter shalt thou take unto thy son.

                       For they will turn away thy son from following me, that they may serve other gods: so
                       will the anger of the Jahwah be kindled against you, and destroy thee suddenly.

                       This is how you shall deal with them: you must destroy their altars (places of worship),
                       break down their sacred pillars (of Baal), cut down their sacred poles (poles of
                       Asherah, by which they set Baal's pagan feasts), and burn their idols with fire.

                       We are to be bold in the spirit and proclaim the truth, fearing not the giants of the land for
               Jahwah is with us. Be just like Joshua and Caleb when they returned from spying out the Land of
               Dabar. "Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it" (Numbers 13:
               30). If we do not follow Jahwah's Torah instructions Jahwah will not allow us to dwell in the
               land. We will be removed just like ancient Israel as found in 2 Kings 17:6-19:

                       In the ninth year of Hoshea the king of Assyria took Samaria, and carried Israel away into
               Assyria….

                       For so it was, that the children of Israel had sinned against Jahwah their Elohim, who had
                       brought them out of the land of Egypt from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and
                       had worshipped other gods.

                       They walked in the set time ordinances of the heathen, whom Jahwah cast out before the
               children of Israel, and in the set-time ordinances that the kings of Israel had introduced.

                       The people of Israel secretly did things that were not right against Jahwah their Elohim.
                       They built for themselves high places in all their cities, from watchtower to fortified city;

                       They set up for themselves sacred pillars and sacred poles (Asherah) on every high hill
                       and under every green tree;

                       The image that represented this goddess Asherah or Astarte in pagan worship was a
                       straight, perpendicular wooden pole, which was used to set the times of pagan feasts.

                       There they made offerings on all the high places, as the nations did whom Jahwah carried
                       away before them.  There, they performed great evil, provoking Jahwah to anger;

                       They served idols, of which Jahwah had said to them 'You must not do this.'
